EXPOS 20: The 2020 Election and American Democracy, Part II

Student Votes, Student Voices

This is a compilation of video essays by students in EXPOS 20: The 2020 Election and American Democracy. As an Engaged Scholarship Expos Course, this course challenged students to make connections, start conversations, and find their own ways to get involved in the action.

This video essay was produced by the students of Expos 20: The 2020 Election and American Democracy. Thanks to the Bok Learning Lab for facilitating production and editing the video, and to the Harvard College Writing Program and the Mindich Program in Engaged Scholarship for supporting the design and implementation of the course.

At a critical moment in our nation’s history, a new generation of citizens make their voices heard for the first time. In our first video, students describe how they’ll cast their ballot amidst the pandemic, discuss their choice of candidates, and reflect on the power of their votes.
A wide range of issues weighed on students’ minds as they made their decisions. As they explain in our second video, social justice issues, the pandemic, climate change, and American democracy itself were some of their key concerns.
Who will win, and what will the aftermath of the election look like? What will the next four years hold? In our final video, the students share their hopes, fears, and predictions for the future.
